2014 – Socio-sexual education adapted to individuals with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder

CONFERENCE GIVEN IN FRENCH BY BILINGUAL SPEAKER.

Recent years have allowed the development of interventions related to ASD and Asperger syndrome interventions. Topics such as interpersonal relationships, sexuality and socialization of individuals with Asperger’s syndrome are among those receiving more and more attention from families, relatives and stakeholders working with this population.

The objective of this workshop is to clearly identify the factors related to the development and repertoire of sexual behaviors. This socio-sexual education program addresses intimacy, emotions, relationships, physiology, prevention of sexual abuse and theory of mind.

The implementation of this program is noted to improve social contacts and decrease inappropriate behavior. This educational approach allows individuals to gain some independence while demonstrating behaviors appropriate to an adequate level of social functioning. Emotional and marital relationships will also be discussed.
