Around the Kitchen Counter:
OPC Conversations

DESCRIPTION

Grab your cup of coffee/tea and lunch; you’re invited to sit (via online zoom) around my kitchen counter and talk about OPC .

Once a month for five months, we’ll meet for Q & A, practice sessions, and share OPC experiences. 10 hours of small group mentorship. Sessions will not be recorded. 

All participants must have completed the OPC Introduction course and be willing to practice in a small group setting. Registration is limited to 15 people.


Facilitators

Caroline Hui

Caroline Hui is a Canadian pediatric occupational therapist involved in research, mentoring, clinical activity, and teaching.

Caroline obtained a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 1991 and a Master of Science in 2014 from McGill University. She has completed numerous training courses in sensory integration, D.I.R./Floortime, craniosacral therapy, self-regulation using the Shanker Self-Reg method, Therapeutic Listening, the SpIRiT model, Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance, and OPC, among others. Caroline has contributed to several articles in scientific journals.

Caroline has been part of the Camp Jabiru (NSW, Australia) support team since 2017. In 2019, the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists awarded her the Prix d’excellence en enseignement clinique at the Université de Sherbrooke. She was a lecturer at the Université de Sherbrooke from 2009 to 2020.

Caroline has worked in British Columbia and Florida, where she co-founded Children’s Therapy Associates, Inc. Since 2002, she has lived in Knowlton, Quebec, where she provides client- and family-centered services to children and their families. She also supports educators as a collaborative consultant and mentors occupational therapists. Caroline is passionate about supporting others in their learning journey. She is currently a doctoral candidate at McGill University.

Áine O’Dea

Dr. Áine O’Dea is an experienced occupational therapist, educator, and researcher, having worked for over two decades in Irish and UK health systems. Áine was the first occupational therapist in Ireland to receive the prestigious SPHeRE (HRB – Health Research Board) scholarship, during which she completed her doctoral studies in the area of DCD, examining both the most effective interventions to treat this disorder and the impacts it has on inclusion and participation for young people.

Áine is passionate about knowledge translation and supporting health professionals to implement evidence-informed interventions. She facilitates an Online Journal Club focused on “Research to Practice” for busy clinicians. She provides training on Clinical Supervision, Occupational Performance Coaching, Understanding Developmental Coordination Disorder/Dyspraxia and Best Practices toward Assessment and Intervention.

In addition, Áine provides supervision and consultancy services to health professionals, and she holds a post-graduate qualification in Clinical Supervision. Áine is a published author of several papers in high-impact journals and a contributor to other publications in occupational therapy, clinical supervision and parent/educator coaching. She has co-authored chapters in the recently published book “Supervision for Occupational Therapy: Practical Guidance for Supervisors and Supervisees”. Dancza, K., Volkert, A., & Tempest, S. (Eds.). Online, a Zoom link will be sent to you a few days before the sessions.


RATES

Early Bird registration before September 1st, 2024: $450.00 CDN; add $50 after September 1st, 2024. Payment can be made via Paypal or by etransfer at info@choosetolearn.ca. Upon payment, Paypal will immediately issue you a receipt.


CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations must be in writing and received before September 18th, 2024. A $75.00 CDN administration fee will be charged. No refunds will be given after this date. Choose to Learn reserves the right to cancel the group mentoring and will refund registration fees.
